Only edition. [3], 51 ff. quarto 228:198 mm., wide margins, usual age staining, corners turned, old stamps. A good copy loose in contemporary boards, rubbed and split.
 
Includes a novellae disputing the Besamim Rosh an alleged forgery by R. Saul Levin-Berlin (Berlin, Judischen Frei Schule, 1793).
 

Detailed Description:   

Only edition of these novellae on the Talmud and Rambam by R. Dov ben Kayim Kadesh Shtainhaizen (d. 1857). The title page describes it being pilpul with wisdom and ingenuity to penetrate the deepest depths of halakhah "its interior inlaid" (Song of Songs 3:10) of different novellae on various subjects, to explain sugyot in Rashi and Tosafot, in sugyot deep and "broader than the sea" (Job 11:9), as well as to explain difficulties in the Rambam; to explain in which ever places require explanation. It is dated with the chronogram "Do good, O Lord, to those who are good, and to those who are upright [in their hearts]" (Psalms 125:4). Yehegeh Hokhmah has approbations from R. Abraham Avile ben Abraham Solomon, R. Aryeh Leib Katzenelbogen, R. Solomon Zalman Lipschitz, R. David of Novordak, R. Elijah Ragolar, R. Dovberush Ashkenazi of Salant, and R. Meir ben Eliezer of Vilna. Next is a three column list of the names of the individuals who helped finance publication and then the text. Yehegeh Hokhmah is comprised of one hundred four simanim on the subjects noted on the title page.
