Detail Description

First edition of this multi-part work comprised of three titles by R. Joseph ben Zevi Hirsch ha-Levi Rottenberg. The three books comprising Bene Shileshim are Yad Yosef, on Shabbat ha-Gadol, Divrei Yosef on Shabat Teshuvah, and Edut Yosef on Rosh Ha-red Shanah and Yom ha-Kippurim. The title-page informs that these are discourses delivered by the admor, the gaon, the gadol, Yehosef Zadika of Krasnoye (Kasonoye). Bene Shileshim was brought to press by R. Rottenberg’s son, R. Hayyim Solomon Rottenberg, av bet din of Krasnoye. The title-page is dated with the chronogram “Joseph is yet alive, and he is governor” (Genesis 45:26). There is an introduction by R. Hayyim Solomon Rottenberg. The text follows, each book including several discourses.

R. Joseph ben Zevi Hirsch ha-Levi Rottenberg (1853-1912), born in Halicz, was a follower of the rebbes of Belz, Zydaczov, Dynov, and Komarno. He received semicha from R.
