Detail Description
Novellae on tractate Bava Kamma with additions to the earlier editions by R. Moses Joshuah Heschel ben Mordecai Ze’ev Orenstein (1774-1824). The title-page refers to R. Orenstein with a long list of honorifics and informs that he served as rabbi in several communities. His father was the distinguished R. Mordecai Ze’ev Orenstein, av bet din Lvov. Yam ha-Talmud was brought to press by R. Mordecai Ze’ev Orenstein, the author’s son. There are approbations from R. Joseph Saul Nathansohn, R. Moses ben Samuel Sofer, R. Zevi Hirsch ben Aryeh Leib, R. Akiva Eger, and R. Mordecai Benet followed by introductions from R. Mordecai Ze’ev and a extensive preface from R. Moses Joshua Heschel. The text consists of Yam ha-Talmud at the top of the page in rabbinic letters in two columns and below it, also in rabbinic letters but in one column a commentary entitled Mephorshei ha-Yam. The compelte work is a detailed and comprehensive commentary on tractate Bava Kamma.
