Detail Description
Letter by R. Moses Kliers (1874-1934), Chief Rabbi of the Tiberius Ashkanic Community. R. Kliers was born and raised in Tzfat. In his teens, he married the daughter of a prominent scholar of the Slonim community in Tiberius, and he went to live there. At the
age of 26, in response to a request by R. Samuel, the Slonimer Rebbe, R. Kliers founded a yeshiva, Ohr Torah, at the grave-site of Reb Meir Baal ha-Ness on the shores of the Kineret. He was involved in community affairs and worked assiduously for the welfare
and improvement of Tiberius Jewry.
He wrote Torat haArutz (Jeriusalem 1928) on laws pretaining to the Holy Land, Tabur haArutz (Jerusalem 1906) on Tiberias, and Moreshet Moshe (Jerusalem 1970).
