Only edition of this ethical work by R. Abraham Abeli ben Zevi Hirsch Rozanos (d. 1827). The title page describes Mahazeh Avraham as being ethics and reproof intended to arouse one to repentance through “proverb, and a figure” (Proverbs 1:6) and explanations of the sayings of the sages. It informs that R. Rozanos was from Minsk and that Mahazeh Avraham was prepared for press by the author’s grandsons R. Baruch Menahem and R. Moses Abraham, sons of R. Zevi Judah. There are approbations from R. Zalman Ze’ev ben Ezekiel Phival, R. Moses Samuel Pines, R. Bezalel ben Moses ha-Kohen, R. Gershon Tanhum ben Eliezer Benjamin, and R. Moses Zevi ben Israel Halperin followed by the introduction of R. Moses Abraham which concludes with verse, the heading “Then sang Moses” (Exodus 15:1) and initial letter of each line an acrostic oh Abraham Moses. The text is divided into four sha’arim and concludes with Ne’ilat Sha’arim.
