Detail Description

Comprehensive commentary on Midrash Rabbah Bereshit and Shemot by R. Joel Dov Beer ben Meir ha-Kohen (1816-71). The title-page describes Batei Kehunah as being intended “to open the eyes of the unseeing and to arouse the hearts of those who slumber and ‘face to face they will see’ (cf. Numbers 14:14) ‘how goodly and how beautiful’ (cf. Zechariah 9:17) are the words of our rabbis, their discourse and their thoughts, for the spirit of the Lord speaks inthem, and His words are on their tongue. There is an approbation from R. Joseph ben Raphael and R. Bezalel ben Israel Moses, both of Vilna, followed by R. Joel Dov Beer’s introduction. Next is the text of this thorough commentary on the first two books of the Midrash Rabbah.
