Detailed Description

Letter by R. Moses Joshua b. Hayyim Meir Hager (1915-2012) previous Viznitzer Rebbe of Bnei Brak. He studied under his uncle R. Eliezer of Vishnitz. As a young man in 1937 he became rabbi of Vilchowitz and later of Grosswardein. In 1942 he married the daughter of R. Hayyim Menahem Mendel Panet of Dez.

In 1945 he came to Eez Israel and lived in Tel Aviv. When his father arrived in 1947, he helped him build Kiryat Vishnitz in Beni Berak. After his father's passing he became Rebbe and thousands of disciples flocked to him for his advice and blessings.

The Vishnitz dynasty was founded approximately 150 years ago in the town Vishnitz, located in Bukowina a region in Romania, today a part of the Ukraine. It was founded by R. Menahem Mendel b. Hayyim Hager (1830–1884). After the death of his father, the zaddik of Kosov (1854), R. Menahem Mendel began to lead the community of Vizhnitz (Vizhnitsa) where he also served as av bet din. He became famous as a miracle worker and a distributor of amulets. He headed Kolel Vizhnitz and Maramuresh, a fund for the poor in Ereẓ Israel. His work Zemah Zaddik (1885) was written in the spirit of hasidic Kabbalah.
