David Oppenheimer. There are approbations from R. Moses Mintz and R. Moses Sofer.

R. Zvi Hirsch ben David Oppenheim, (1794-1859) was born in Temesvar, Hungary, (then part of the Austrian Empire, now Timisoara, Romania), also known as "Gaon Rabbi Herschele Temeswarer". He succeeded his father, R. David Oppenheim, in the rabbinate of the Ashkenazi community of Temesvar. He was of German descent and a member of the noted Oppenheim family. The Austrian government bestowed upon him the title and functions of chief rabbi of the Temes county and of the Military Guard Region, a position which gave him authority over all the new Jewish communities which sprang up in that territory recently recovered from Turkish occupation. R. Oppenheim, a staunch Orthodox Jew and author of several scholarly works, permitted a choir to participate at his services. He welcomed the opportunity for Jews to obtain citizenship rights and fostered the process of rapprochement with those of other faiths in the surrounding communities. Oppenheim is the author of author of "'Ene ha-Da'at" (Budapest, 1829).
