Detailed Description:   

Only edition of these responsa and novellae by R. Zevi Jacob ben Michael Isaac Oppenhaim. The title page describes Zevi Ge’on Ya’akov as responsa, novellae, and explanations of sugyot ha-Shass and the poskim. It relates that R. Oppenhaim was the admor, gaon, gadol, and prince of the Torah. R. Oppenhaim, currently av bet din of Kelme, served as av bet din in several communities in Eastern Europe,. At the beginning of the book is R. Oppenhaims’ introduction in which he gives his family’s genealogy Zevi Ge’on Ya’akov covers a variety of subjects beginning with writing Stam (Sefer Torah, tefillin, and mezzuzot) and Gittin for women, followed by such subjects as Bal Tosef, sefekot rov and hazakah, bittul issurim, the position of the Rambam concerning sefeka d’Oraissa who decides from the Torah leniently, the prohibition of doing business with prohibited items, and the Rambam concerning a king and the nations of the world. There are fifty-three such responsa, followed by novellae on Talmudic tractates.

4 עמ': צבי וצדיק; הקדמה ותולדות המחבר, מאת בנו ר' שמואל בנדט אפפענהיים. ראינו טופס שבו נדפסו שנית הדף הראשון (השער) והדף האחרון. מן השער החדש נשמט שם המוציא לאור. כן חלו שינויים בסוף הספר. מעבר לשער נשמט שם המדפיס ובשער צויין דפוס אחר: ריגא, דפוס "Splendid". בדפוס זה נדפסו רק שני דפים אלה.
