Detailed Description:

Only edition of this celebratory commemorative booklet issued in honor of the bar mitzvah of Bar Mitzvah of Jacob (Jacob ben Isaac) Sodden. The orange jacket cover, in Hebrew and English, informs that the bar mitzvah occurred on Saturday, July 15, 1933 at Congregation Ohav Shalom, 19-21 Varet Street, Brooklyn, NY. The reception was the following day, July 16, 1933 at B. B. Manor 3-5-7 Lewis Avenue, Brooklyn. The cover is followed by a photograph of Jacob Sodden standing erect wearing a talis apparently taken in the hall and then the text, entirely in Yiddish. The text is comprised of several derashot, the first a pilpul by the bar mitzvah boy, shlita, then a derasha by him, his father the president of Congregation Ohav Shalom. R. Jacob ha-Levi Fink and then blessings from several from several individuals, among them R. Aaron ha-Levi Dim, from Degel ha-Rabbanim of America. An interesting piece of American Judaica from almost a century ago.
