Detail Description

Only edition of this monograph on the subject of giving zedakkah in Paris by R. Nahum Zevi Diskin. The title-page states that the subject is on stumbling blocks (difficulties) with the va’ad ha-tzedakah in the capital city of Paris. The title is from “And Pharaoh called Joseph’s name Zaphnath-Paaneah (revealer of secrets,)” (Genesis 41:45). There is an introduction in which R. Diskin explains his reasons for writing Zaphnath-Paaneah and then the text. Zaphnath-Paaneah addresses difficulties in the collection and distribution of charity, including the involvement (recipient) by Polish Jews in Paris.
