Detail Description

Only edition of this written to benefit benei Yisrael by R. Abraham Zutra (1784-1869), on disputes in halakhic issues. A three-part work, this is part one, by far the largest of all three parts. It is dated, appropriately, with the chronogram “I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.  אֲחַלְּקֵם בְּיַעֲקֹב וַאֲפִיצֵם בְּיִשְֹרָאֵל” (Genesis 49:7). Milhamot Hashem begins by referring to Moses and his responsibility of rebuking the people and Ezekiel, sating “son of man, I have made you a watchman to the house of Israel; therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. When I say to the wicked, You shall surely die; and you give him not warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at your hand. But if you warn the wicked, and he turns not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have saved your soul” (Ezekiel 3:17-19). It continues and Abraham Zutra answered and said “Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak to the Lord, I who am but dust and ashes” (Genesis 18:26), An thought-provoking, interesting, and scholarly discourse on religious differences and positions.
