Detail Description

Only edition of these novellae on the Talmud with Tosafot Shevi’is by R. Eliezer Lipmann Naizatts. In two parts, both present, the title-page describes it as seven hakirot and derashot (examinations and discourses) on the methods of the Talmud. It informs that R. Naizatts served as av bet din in several communities among them Sardahal. He was also the author of Mishbotzet ha-Paniim (Vienna, 1846). There is an introduction from R. Isaiah Naizatts, the author’s son, who brought Betzir Eliezer to press. There are mictav berakhot from R. Michael Naizatts andR. Sender, both brothers of the author, followed by approbations from R. Abraham Samuel Benjaumin, R. Joseph Saul ha-Levi Nathansohn, R. Jacob Yokov Ettlinger, R. Phineas Leib Freidon, R. Abraham Shag, R. Hayyim Joseph Falk, R. Wolf Pokas, and R. Raphael Nata Rabbinowitz. The text begins with an introduction, verse, and an approbation from R. Moses Sofer (Hatam Sofer) and then the text, comprised of hakirot and derashot in facing columns. At the end of the volume is Tosafot Shevi’is.
