Only edition, octavo, 96 pp. 175:120 mm., wide (some uncut) margins, age staining. A very good copy bound in contemporary wrappers.

 

Detail Description

Only edition of this collection of tales and verse from R. Israel Brussia of Russia. The title-page states that it is by a medakak (exacting person) among the writers of Russia, who previously was called Israel Brussia. However, he had initially been called Ben Yavon. There is prefatory material, beginning with explanations of riddles from R. ibn Ezra, followed by the introduction of R. Israel from Russia. The text follows, beginning with essays, then verse, and then concludes with more prose. Several of the pages are still unciut.

 

Hebrew Description

מאת המדקדק אחד מכותבי רוססיה. לפנים היה ישראל ברוססיה. ואולם יבפ"ת [ישראל בן פרץ] יקרא שם האיש לראשונה, או "בן יון" ... (חלק א-ג).

עמ’ 3-4: מפתרון החידה אשר כתב ... ר"א [ר’ אברהם] ב"ר מאיר ... אבן עזרא. אב באדמה הוליד ארבעה אחים.

עמ’ 5-44: סיפור, נחלק לשני חלקים.
