Copper engraved titlepage, 1--75 ff. only, duodecimo, 140:74 mm., closely trimmed margins affwcting letters, use, age and damp staining, bound in later boards, rubbed.

 

Detailed Description:   

Title: Biblia Hebraica Sine punctis Versibus,  Capitibus & Sectionibus interstincta,  notisque Masoretarum quas Kri & Ktif appellant,  instructa,  Ad Leusdenianam Editionem adornata,  printed in Hebrew throughout.

Darlow & Moule no. 5138  'An unpointed edition,  based on Leusden,  edited by G. Desmarestz  (or Maresius).  A revision by J. Leusden became the basis for many subsequent editions.   Johann Leusden,  1624 - 1699,  Dutch Calvinist theologian and orientalist,  born in Utrecht,  studied in Utrecht and became Professor of Hebrew in Utrecht where he died aged 75.  Leusden was one of the most prominent Bible experts of his time.  In 1660 together with the Amsterdam rabbi and book printer Joseph Athias he published his  'Biblia Hebraica'  the first edition of the Hebrew Bible with numbered verses.  This 1701 edition with numbered verses.
 
Rosenthal #2370 states that this is a error filled edition with missing verses.

 לפי סדר הפרשיות פתוחות וסתומות עם נביאים ראשונים ואחרונים וכתובים, בלי נקודות... ובסוף הספר נמצא לוח מכל פרשיות התורה וההפטרות ומן הקרי והכתיב ומכל מלות יתירות וחסרות. [חלק א-ד]. ‬

עם קדם-שער מצוייר: עשרים וארבעה.

לפי הוצאת פראנקפורט תנ"ד, כולל השערים. נשמטו ההקדמות בלאטינית ובעברית. בשולי הקדם-שער ושני השערים הכלליים יש שינויים בדפוסת. הטקסט של המקרא נדפס דף-על-דף כמו הוצאת תנ"ד. ‬בסוף החלקים ב-ג ובסוף דברי הימים נדפסו קישוטים שונים.

בראש חלק א הקדמה בלאטינית מאת Georgius Desmarestz. בסופה שיר בעברית, פותח: אשרי שרגליו היו נמנעים. בעמוד שאחרי ההקדמה שיר, פותח: תורת עולם אשר היתה בטרם כל יציר נברא. החותם: ‬M. Joh. Henricus Lederlin Argentoratenfis.

ראינו טופס שבסופו צורפו שתי מפות מקופלות.

רוזנטאל, יודע ספר, עמ’ 461, מס’ 2370, כותב שבספר זה "חסרים בו כמה פסוקים והוא טעויות על כל גדותיו"
