Only edition of this work on Jewish concepts by R. Joshua Joseph ben Elhanan Priel (1858-96). Described as the first part (part two was published in 1901), the title page states, “My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew” (Deuteronomy 32:2), and explaining the sayings of our sages, exalted (sinking in mighty waters (cf. Exodus 15:10), the waters of the sea of the Talmud, precious pearls their wondrous sayings); straightforward concepts built on sockets of faithful inquiry, their holy words disseminating bright shining light. The title page informs that R. Priel wrote the work in 1886. Eglei-Tal has approbations from R. Elijah Hayyim Meisel, R. Zevi Hirsch Rabbinovicz, R. Eliakim Solomon Shapira, R. Abraham Nahman Schwartz, and R. Elijah Meir ben Baruch Philelsohn. There are prefatory words in place of an introduction followed by the eleven essays that comprise the volume, concluding with an index.

  ... יערוף כמטר לקחו... ובאוריו למאמרי חז"ל... בנוי על אדני חקירות... כתוב בשנת תרמ"ו בידי הרב... יהושע יוסף פרייל זצ"ל רב בק"ק קראק. ונמסר לדפוס ע"י אלמנת הרב המנוח ובניו... מאמר א בכתיב של שם המחבר בדפוסת הרוסית יש שינוי בשערים של שני החלקים: בחלק א: (אותיות קיריליות) ובחלק ב: (אותיות קיריליות). ראינו טופס, שבו נדפס בשערים של שני החלקים התאריך תרנ"ט, 1898, אך תאריך הצנזורה מעבר לשער החלק השני הוא 1901. כן מופיע שם המחבר בשני השערים של טופס זה (אותיות קיריליות). טופס זה הוא כנראה הדפסה סטריאוטיפית.
