The prefatory material includes two pages with seven dedicatory entries, A nos Martyrs! (To our martyrs and Aux families (to the families) N. Salmona et H. Missistano) follwed by a dedication to his parents, brothers and sisters, fiancé, and friends, and then prefaces by Leon Meiss, President of the Consistoire Israelite de France and by Temoignage (testimony) du Major J. Nadich Aumonier General de l’Armee Americaine. Next is a photograph of Jose Papo in the national costume of Yugoslavia signing a book in the presence of important dignitaries in Paris in 1934, an introduction, and then the text beginning with Exode 1940.
