Detail Description

Engrossing and detailed account of the activities of the Sephardic community in Paris during World War II. The title-page has a subtitle “Activite de la Communaute Sephardite de Paris pendant l'occupation 1940-1945 (Activity of the Sephardite Community of Paris during the occupation 1940-1945). The prefatory material includes two pages with seven dedicatory entries, A nos Martyrs! (To our martyrs and Aux families (to the families) N. Salmona et H. Missistano) follwed by a dedication to his parents, brothers and sisters, fiancé, and friends, and then prefaces by Leon Meiss, President of the Consistoire Israelite de France and by Temoignage (testimony) du Major J. Nadich Aumonier General de l’Armee Americaine. Next is a photograph of Jose Papo in the national costume of Yugoslavia signing a book in the presence of important dignitaries in Paris in 1934, an introduction, and then the text beginning with Exode 1940. There is a full page image of the Jewish star with the word Juif in the middle and several photographs. A descriptive account of Jewish life in Paris during World War II.
