Comprehensive commentary on Shulhan Arukh Yoreh De’ah with related responsa by R. Zevi Hirsch ben Azriel of Vilna. The title page informs that it is a new commentary based on the works ofd the geonim, rishonim and aharonim (earlier and later sages on the Shulhan Arukh of the Tur Yoreh De’ah that is the Bach (R. Joel Sirkes, 1561–1640), the Derisha (R. Joshua Falk, (c. 1555–1614), Taz (Turei Zahav, R. David ben Samuel ha-Levi, 1586–1667), and Shakh (R. Shabbetaiben Meir ha-Kohen, 1621–1662), Keneset ha-Gedolah (R. Hayyim ben Israel Benveniste, 1603–1673), Nekuddot ha-Kesef, Shabbetai ben Meir Ha-Kohen (Shakh), Peri Hadash (R. Hezekiah ben David da Silva, 1659–1695), Beit Hillel (R. Hillel ben Naphtali Zevi Herz, 1615–1690), and several other leading decisors also mentioned on the title page. He brings pertinent responsa and adds novellae. The title page also relates that R. Zevi Hirsch was the son-in-law of R. Menahem Mann Gershon of Vilna, av bet din of Alik and currently in Lublin. There are approbations from R. Abraham Dov Auerbach and R. Bezalel Marguliot followed by R. Zevi Hirsch’s introduction, an abbreviated summary of seder Nikor and a responsa. The text begins with hilkhot shehitah and continues through hilkhot Aveilot, The format is the text of the Shulhan Arukh in the inner column and Bet Lehem Yehudah in the outer column. The volume concludes with Kuntres ha-sefekot and responsa.
