Only edition of these glosses and novellae on the Talmud by R. Joseph Alter ben Mordecai Epstein (1835-99). The author, rav and av bet din in Magrov and Uzirin, was descended from R. Nahum Zevi of Kalima and of R. Mordecai Jaffe (Levush). The title page describes Ginzei Yosef as revealing all that is concealed, opening all that is shut, and opening the eyes of the sages with the words of Rashi, Tosafot, Maharsha, Maharshal, and Maharam, to clarify and to resolve their words as purified flour through clear reasoning and pilpul. It also informs that Ginzei Yosef was brought to press by the author’s grandchildren, sons of R. Meir Rokeah admor in Mikholov. There is an introduction by the author’s son-in-law, R. Meir Rokeah; an approbation from R. Aaron Rokeah of Belz; and a brief introduction signed by five of R. Epsteins’s grandsons. The text follows, in two columns in rabbinic type on Talmudic tractates.
