Detailed Description:

First edition of this small and attractive versified work on Megillat Esther  by R. Simhah Aryeh ben Ephraim Fischel ha-Levi. Divrei Purim is based on Midrashim. In it the central figures are Ahasuerus and Esther. The verses are in alphabetic order and each line concludes with the word בו. The text is preceded by a brief preface from R. Sender Rof ha-Levi, a Talmud, and notes to the letter zayin by tav for the second alef bet and at the end by the publisher. R. Simhah Aryeh began this compilation, on original lines, of a Hebrew dictionary entitled "Memalle," of which only the letterא  appeared (Warsaw, 1839).

R. Simhah Aryeh was a Russian Hebraist and author of the nineteenth century; born at Hrubieszow, government of Warsaw. He wrote, in addition to Divrei Purim. a double commentary on Job, preceded by a preface and two poems (Lemberg, 1833).
