Detail Description
Segulot, refuot and prayers by R. Hayyim Mordecai Adler. The title-page informs that the segulot and remedies were assembled from holy works and that R. Adler served as rabbi in Ferrara. Darkhei Hayyim wa brought to press by R. Joel Amram Yeshai Adler. There is an introduction from the author who informs that the letters of דרכי חיים are the letters of his name חיים מרדכי and then elaborates on the letter מ. He notes that in Darkhei Hayyim a perso nwith a wise heart can find remedies for the body and for the soul. Next is a table of contents, the names of those who supported publication and then the text, arranged alphabetically. Each remedy is followed by its source. The number of remedies for each ailment vary, a lengthy one is earaches, with fifty-one suggested cures. Two unusual examples for ear aches:
2) For an ear ache put into the ear the milk of a woman mixed with the white of an egg.
6) If a living creature enters the ear put something sweet such as sugar or fat. If the bug remains alive kill it with something salty, such as urine or with something bitter such as bile
42) For a running ear place a piece of pig in it.
