Detail Description

German language edition of Maimonides’ (Rambam) Shemonah Perakim with considerable prefatory matter and notes by Simon Falkenheim, a board member of a private teaching and educational institution (Bortsteher einer privat=lehr und ErziehungAnstalt). The title-page describes Der Ethik des Maimonides as being edited from the Arabic text of he Rambam and from the Hebrew-German, accompanied by a preface for the purposes of our time (Aus dem Arabischen des RaMBaM und nach dem Ebraiscehn deutch bearbeitet nebst einen Vortworte  zur Beherzigung fur unsere Zeit). The text is preceded by lengthy introductory prefaced and then the text accompanied by notes.

Maimonides’ Shemonah Perakim, expresses his views on an ethical subjects and forms the introduction to his commentary on Avot. It is almost a draft of the first portion of Sefer Madda, the first book of the Mishneh Torah. Moreover, it is a philosophical and ethical treatise in which its author harmonized Aristotle's ethics with rabbinical teachings.
