Only edition of these varied discourses on the weekly Torah readings, Bible, and tractates on both the Babylonian Talmud and the Jerusalem Talmud by R. Samuel Waldberg. The title-page informs that Kitbe Samuel was published posthumously by his son-in-law R. Moses Buber and his son R. Raphael Waldberg. After the title-page is a photo of the author wearing a spudic, the inscription on his tombstone, words in memoriam, Loshon Hachomim on the Torah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Shir ha-Shirim, Mishle, Eichah, and Divrei ha-Yamim. This is followed by Divre Hachomim on tractates of the Talmud. Kitbe Samuel is a small but very rich and varied work.
R. Samuel Waldberg (1829-1906), son of R. Joel Waldberg and Eidel Serl Waldberg, husband of Ester Berle Ernestine Birnbaum, born in Lviv, Lviv Oblast, Ukraine, served as rabbi in Jaroslaw and Zolkiew. A prolific author, among R. Waldberg’s other works are Divre Shmuel on the Talmud, Divre; Sefer Torat Elohim : ḥumash ... ʻim Netinah la-ger : Targum, pe. Rashi, Ibn Ezra and Darkhe ha-shinuyim.
