Second edition. 85, [1] ff., quarto, 251:200 mm., nice margins, usual light age and damp staining, old hands and stamps of previous owners. A very good copy bound in contemporary boards, rubbed.

The Copy of a Hasidic Admor, inscribed by a 19th century hand:

הס' הק' הזה הישגת מתנה מבן מרן זצל"ה מספרי אדמו"ר זצלה"ה. /  נפתלי הערצקי בן נחמה

 

Detail Description

Hasidic teachings following the weekly Torah portion. R. Eliezer ben Jacob Ha-Levi (Horovitz) of Tarnogrod (d. 1806), rabbi and hasidic author, was a descendant of a famous rabbinic family. He was a disciple of R. Elimelech of Lyzhansk, R. Jacob Isaac of Lublin (Hozeh), and R. Israel of Kozienice (The Maggid). His greatness can be glimpsed at with one of his teachings, "even the greatest saint has to hide his own light to avoid the sin of pride".
