Detail Description

Only edition of this bi-lingual Judeo-German and German commentary the Sefer Ebronot by R. Meir ben Abraham Elhanan Fuerth. Beginning with a quote, in German from Pirke Avot, Parperot le-Hokhmah states that it is a commentary on Ebronot, adding calculations pertaining to the renewal of the monthly solar cycle, by which the nations number their years and explaining the relationship between the times of the renewal of the solar cycle and the moon on a daily basis and thus the length of the days. Also addressed are sun rise and the appearance of three stars in the evening throughout the year and in every place, the molad of Tishrei from the year 1808 through 1900, the cycles of the year for this period, which day of the week and when in the month they occur. Also provided are calendars for the years 1791 through 1900. There is an introduction and then the text, in a single column in Judeo-German in rabbinic letters. The text is followed by numerous and comprehensive tables. The second half of the book is in German. The German section has its own title page which describes it as Entwurf zur Selbstverfertigung eines immerwaehrenden Kalenders nach Sonnen und Mondenjahren berechnet, nebst einer astronomischen und chronologischen Einleitung There are several books entitled Work on the intercalation of the Hebrew calendar. No author's name appears with the book. The title page, without ornamentation, states that it is Sefer Ebronot, among them a work on the intercalation of the Hebrew calendar first printed in Basle (1527) and reprinted in Riva di Trento (1560). Another such work was written by R. Benjamin Aaron ben Abraham Slonik (Solnik), (c. 1550–c. 1619), addressing the Hebrew leap year.
