Detailed Description:

First edition of these halachic novellae on the Shulhan Arukh Orah Hayyim and Yoreh De’ah in the manner of responsa by R. Ze’ev Wolf ben Judah ha-Levi, a dayan in Vilna. The title-page, set in an attractive frame, states that it is the collected halachic novellae in the form of responsa which the author has reviewed in depth in the emek halachah (the valley of halachah), from the sea of the Talmud and poskim, rishonim and aharonim. On the verso of the title-page is the censor’s approval, followed by approbations from six rabbis, the author’s introduction which he  informs that the numerical value of title Emek Halakhah עמק הלכה (270) equals his name Ze’ev Wolf ben Judah ha-Levi זאב וואלף בן יהודה הלוי plus the four names (266 + 4 = 270). Next is a listing of the responsa, one hundred sixty-one for Orah Hayyim, fifty-four for Yoreah De’ah. The text follows in two columns in rabbinic letters. The responsa are varied, comprised of varied, detailed, in depth discussions of their subject matter.
