Only edition of these She’elot ve-Teshuvot by R. Jacob Zev ben Abraham Kahana. The title-page informs that Toldot Ya’akov is on all four sections of the Shulhan Arukh, comprised of responsum that R. Kahana wrote to answer queries submitted to him. In doing so he explained many positions in the Talmud and poskim, all in a manne3r that is readily understandable. It “is a brand plucked from the fire” (Zechariah 3:2) for a fire broke out in the city Pasul, the residence of the Rav, and burned the walls of his house, burning his entire library and his merit and the merit of his fathers stood in his favor and the writings in this book were saved. The responsa were brought to press by Abraham Kratzmal of Vilna. The verso of the title-page has an approbation from R. Isaac Elkhanan and below it and on the following pages R. Kahana’s introduction. Next is a discourse entitled Mamar Divrei Emet and afterwards the responsa on all four parts of the Shulhan Arukh.
