Only edition of these novella on the mitzvot by R. Hayyim Meshulam Kaufmann Oterman ha-Kohen (1860-1924). The title-page informs that Aleh ha-Mitzvot includes the rules and roots, novellae and pilpulim on categories of the mitzvot in the Talmud in the maner that the mitzvot are done according to halakhah. R. Kaufmann Oterman was av bet din in Gostinan. He was also the author of Petah ha-Ohel on the halkhot of ohelot and of Ma’aseh rekam on hilkhot treifus. There are several approbations, including one from R. Hayyim Berlin. The text is preceded by discourses from several rabbis and then R. Kaufmann Oterman’s discourses. The text is comprised of five general subjects, suchas mitzvah haba be-averah; mitzvot require kavannah; mitzvot were not given to benefit; bal tosef; and bal teigrah. Each of these is comprised of several separate discourses. There also approbations that were received after Petah ha-Ohel was printed.
