Detailed Description
Letter signed by R. Yaakov Galinsky (1921-2014) was renowned for his wit and unique ability to impart inspiring words of hisorerus. He was a talmid of the Novardok Yeshiva in Bialistock, where he learned during the 1930s under Rav Avrohom Yaafen, son-in-law of the Alter of Novardok. In 1941, he was exiled to Siberia with a group of hundreds of yeshiva bochurim. Post-World War II, he married his rebbetzin, spent a period of time in the DP camps in Germany, and in 1949 immigrated to Eretz Yisroel and settled in Bnei Brak.
Rav Galinsky was extremely close to the Chazon Ish and the Steipler Gaon. In the 1950s, he became rosh yeshiva in Rosh Haayim and expended great efforts to impact the youth of the Yemenite community. In the 1960s, he led the Novardok Yeshiva in Chadeirah along with Rav Elchanan Perlmutter, also a Novardok talmid.
For years, Rav Galinsky visited immigrant communities throughout Eretz Yisroel to be mechazeik and uplift the residents there. His drashos, based on the Novardok school of thought and hashkafah, inspired thousands across the globe.
