Detail Description

Penitential liturgies recited by the charitable group Malbish Arumim of the Ashkenazi community of Modena after the nightly recital of a book of Psalms. Malbish Arumim (to clothe the naked} societies are charitable groups that provides clothes for poor Jews. Variations thereof exist in all Jewish communities. Many will dedicate a special liturgy in honor of their good deeds.

Selihot (penitential liturgies) for year round following the rites of Italians. Selihot are a special order of service consisting of non-statutory additional prayers which are recited on all fast days, on occasions of special intercession and during the Penitential season which begins before Rosh Ha-Shanah and concludes with the Day of Atonement. The word selihah means forgiveness, and in the singular is used to indicate a piyyut whose subject is a plea for forgiveness for sins.

 קול תפלה קול תחנה... אשר... מתחננים... בני חבר’ מלביש ערומים... שבב"ה [שבבית הכנסת] אשכנזי’ מן השוק שבק"ק מודונא... אחרי אמרם בכל לילות השנ’ חלק א’ מחמשה ספרי תהלים... ותהי ראשית מלאכה קדושה יום ר"ח שבט שנת התע"ז... ונדפס עתה מחדש במצות מעל’ בני החבר’ הנ"ל.

ההוצאות הקודמות (ויניציא תע"ב; ויניציאה תפ"ו) הופיעו בשם "קול תפלה קול תחנה".
