Detail Description

Facsimile of the The Copenhagen Haggadah Altona-Hamburg 1739 illustrated manuscript Haggadah.Exquisite facsimile edition of the Copenhagen Haggadah, originally published in 1739. This work is magnificently illustrated throughout by scribe and illustrator Uri Pheibush, son of Isaac Eisik Segal. This illuminated manuscript is lacking its 8-page booklet containing an introduction by Chaya Benjamin. Moderate and sporadic rubbing along edges of slipcase. Text in Hebrew. Slipcase in overall good+, binding and interior in very good condition. Uri Feibush ben Isak Eisik Segal was born in 1719, and worked as a scribe in the so-called triple-community ('Dreigemeinde') Hamburg-Altona-Wandsbeck. Sometimes between 1751 and 1755, he moved to Copenhagen, where he remained until his death in 1795.
