Detail Description
Only edition of these communal takkanot (enactments) by R. Israel Reich. The title-page informs that these takkanot include the meritorious and obligatory obligations of every community and organization. It explains the ability, requirements, and limits of the community to make enactments, whether prohibitions or financial and their sources. Furthermore, Takkanot ha-Kehilot begins with aggadot and derashot and at the end responsa on various subjects. It informs that R. Reich was the son of the gaon and zaddik R. Kappel Reich, and on the verso of the title-page, was the Bezirks-Oberrabiner. Ther eis a preface from the author, a hesped, two discourses. The text follow with the takkanot on a variety of subjects, many dealing with normal daily occurrences others unusual. A small number of examples are 8) giving charity to a poor person who comes to the door; 11) raising money to build a synagogue; 14) one who owns a whom in a location but does not swell there; 21) concerning writing a prozbul; and 30) concerning shehita. Sources are scholarly as is the book, resulting in an erudite and fascinating work on communal responsibility and activity.
