Detailed Description:
Only edition of this unusual work on gematriot and related subjects by R. Benjamin Wolf ben Reuben Zeligman Grishaber. The text of the title-page begins that it is a work of small size but of great quality. Zeved Binyamin has approbations from R. Jedidiah Thia Wiel, R. Abraham Benjamin Wolf ben Samuel ha-Levi, and R. Jacob Katzenelbogen. Moshe N Rosenfeld describes Zeved Binyamin as being “on the meaning of letters in the Hebrew alphabet with some explanations in order of the Parshiot in the Pentateuch. Some novels in the name of the author’s son ח"ש. Zeved Binyamin concludes with an acrostic based on the alphabet and the author’s name.
R. Benjamin Wolf ben Reuben Zeligman Grishaber served as shamash and shohet in Karlsruhe. Reference is made on the title page to Carl Friedrich (1746-1811) on the title page. He was the Margrave of of the Baden-Durlach who issued a decree freeing the Jews from serfdom and allowing them to reside wherever they pleased and freeing them from a "Todfall"; tax, paid to the clergy for each Jewish burial.
