Only edition Part one (of two),  [3], 3-81 ff. quarto 275:213 mm., wide margins, usual light age and damp staining. A very good copy bound in contemporary full vellum over boards, rubbed and starting.

 

Detail Description

Multi-part novellae on the Talmud and Mishnayot by R. Levi ben David of Kodnya (Kadni) (c.1725-c.1780). The title page describes Ateret Tiferet as the first of two parts included in the book livyat Hen which is comprised of aterot, the first of ten which includes Golat ha-Koteret as explained in the introduction to Ateret Rosh. It is dated with a chronogram based on the verse “an ornament of grace (livyat hen); a crown of glory shall she bestow on you” (cf. Proverbs 4:9). There is an approbation from R.Israel Meshullam Zalman from the family Yabetz and then the text, which begins with the sixth perek of tractate Berakhot followed by addenda. The second part of Ateret Tiferet is on Seder Zera’im and has separate foliation. It has several diagrams, including one that is full page. The third part of the volume is entitled Kuntress Misgeret Tefach me-Shulhan ha-Melekh and also has its own foliation. It too has several diagrams and pages with calculations.

The author's son relates (see: א' כ"צמאן, לדמות הג"ר מנחם מענדל תלמיד הגר"א, ישורון, ד, תשנ"ט, עמ' שסז-שסח ) that his father was martyred by gentiles in Wegrow where he was laid to rest.
