Detailed Description   

Only edition of these volume of responsa and novella by R. Meshulam Zalman Ashkenazi. The title-page Bet Meshulam describes as responsa and novellae by my honorable father-in-law, the elder, the great eagle, pure menorah, godly man, the light of Israel, holy,  etc. It informs that R. Meshulam Zalman Ashkenazi was av bet din in several locations, among them Lublin. At the end of the volume is a kuntres Kovid ha-Bayit by R. Zevi Ezekiel Michaelsohn, who was av  bet din in Krasnibrod and now in Plonsk, son-in-law and grandson of R. Meshulam Zalman on the life of R. Meshulam Zalman. The title-page is followed by R. Zevi Ezekiel Michaelsohn’s introduction and then the text. Bet Meshulam is comprised of thirteen detailed responsa followed by novellae on various tractates, in two columns in rabbinic letters. Next, beginning on p. 45 is Kovid ha-Bayit  in a single column in square letters accompanied by extensive footnotes in rabbinic letters. Bet Meshulam is a multi-faceted work of considerable interest and value.
