Detailed Description:
Three parodies by Abraham Kotlar in one volume. 1.Masecheth Derech Eretz (Hachadashah) with Rashi and Tosaphoth. With parodical Hagadah for Passover, Akdamuth for Pentecost and Zemiroth. Hebrew, Yiddish and Aramaic. “Tractate on the Way of Life in the New Country...According to the American Custom.” A devastating attack on the state of American Jewish life, satirizing the dramatic changes found among immigrant Jews - apparently all too quick to abandon traditional practices. Kotlar felt the surrounding chaos resulted from both the low moral standards set by the Jewish leaders of the day and due to an obsession with money. Kotlar, a resident of Cleveland, is especially derisive of the religious innovations of Cincinnati’s Reform Rabbi Wise.
