Detail Description
A synagogue celebration in honor of the installation of Rabbi Dr. Samuel Spitzer on Thursday November 24, 1910 in the Gemeindesynagoge Bornplatz in Hamburg. The program consisted of Psalms (presented here in both German and Hebrew) and a speech by R. Dr. Spitzer.
R. Dr. Spitzer wa born in Jarmat, Hungary, 2 January 1872 and died Hamburg, 29 May 1934. He was appointed chief rabbi of the Gemeinde-Synagoge Bornplatz (Community Synagogue Bornplatz) in 1910; Chief rabbi of Hamburg 1910-1934. He was renowned for his knowledge of the Talmud. His regular Halacha lectures (that part of the Talmud which is concerned with legal matters as distinct from homiletics) were repeatedly described as masterpieces.
