Detailed Description:   

The only edition of this two part work by R. Ephraim ben Jacob ha-Levi Kukia. Yalkut Ephraim is discourses on the Torah and the five Megillot ha-Levi accompanied at the end by Sam Hayyim, likkutim. Dated with the chronogram “The Lord shall bless you from Zion; and you shall see the good of Jerusalem all the days of your life.” (Psalms 128:5) the title-page describes Yalkut Ephraim as selections (Yalkutei) from the works of Rishonim, discourses and misdrashim, old and new, “all the words of the living God” (Eruvin 13b, Gittin 6b). The next paragraph begins that were given on Mount Sinai by the hand of the only One of the world into the hand of his faithful shepherd who is Moshe Rabbenu. It further informs that the work was written in the city of Ahazikas. Yalkut Ephraim also includes material from the Zohar and later kabbalistic works.  There is an approbations from R. Abraham Ashkenazi followed by the zevah (testament) of R. Judah ha-Hasid, the author’s introduction, and then the text. Sam Hayyim, a considerably smaller work with its own title-page is appropriately dated “and you shall know that I am the Lord; for those who wait for me shall not be ashamed” (Isaiah 49:23) for it is an ethical work, based on midrashim.
