Detail Description
Popular and stylistically innovative work on the Talmud and Midrashim by R. Moses ben Hayyim Wortman. The first of the book’s two title-pages informs that Zedah la-Derekh has צדיק 204 chapters (sha’arim) from the author of Divrei Torah selected from the Talmud, midrashim, and small tractates, Tanhuma, Sifrei, Mekhilta, Pesikta, and Tanna Debei Eliyahu, and Pirkei de Rabbi Eliezer. Many of the ma’amrim relate to ninety of the sha’arim and are noted in their place. The second title-page repeats much of the above and adds that it is printed in a small format so that a person can easily carry it when travelling so that he can fulfill with it “and you shall speak of them” when you go on the way. Other virtues of the sefer can be discerned by the reader himself. There is an approbation from R. Dov Berush Meisles of Warsaw, followed by the author’s introduction, a list of the sha’arim organized alphabetically, each with subheadings, also alphabetic. An example is Bet which is comprised of bet Kenesset, Beracha, Banim, and Busha. The text follows. An attractive and appealing small work designed for the traveler who wishes to learn while on the road.
