Only edition, octavo, [12], 29, [2], 31-94, [2] ff. 185:105 mm., light age and damp staining. A good copy loose in contemporary marbled paper over boards.
 

Detail Description

Only edition of this bi-lingual, Hebrew-Judeo-German versified work on the Targum on Bereishit by R. Levin Wittkowski.  The title-page describes Shirei Neimot le-parasht Bereishit as a mussar ha-sekhal (ethical work) and in it are profound insights concerning the soul, in the manner of verse and flowing language, divided into six versified parts with Judeo-German translation. There are approbations from R. Gershon ben Tuvia Zemelborg, R. Jacob Zevi, and R. Isaac Eisek  ben AbrahamWittiwski, brother of the author. s. There is a forward from R. Judah Leib ben Abba of Geossen and then the text, which is in vocalized Hebrew and Judeo-German on facing page. One part of the text is in alternating parts between Adam, Eve, and the Satan.
