Detailed Description:
Only edition of this hassidish ethical work by R. Jacob David ben Isaac Eisek Yom Tov of Redomsk. The title-page states that in Michlal Mitziyon are matters that draw a person’s heart to his father in heaven. It gives R. Jacob David’s distinguished genealogy and is then followed by approbations from R. Hayyim Josef Sonnefeld and R. Israel Nissan of Makvah and then the text. Michlal Mitziyon is arranged alphabetically. For example, within the letter tes are three entries, Tov ta’am ve-daas, u-be-emes, and tov u-raw. The letter yod has five entries, beginning with Yosef ha-Zaddik and the letter calph has one entry, Cavod. Entries vary in length. An example of a short entry under pe is Pinhas, which quotes the Zohar, stating that the souls of nadav and Avihu came in Pinhas when he slew Zimri. It seems that this was a tikkun for their sin for teaching halakhah publicly, now corrected by doing a deed that was halakhic and is not so taught.
